PERPETUAL OCEAN

 

Perpetual Ocean shows ocean surface currents around the world during the period from June 2005 through December 2007. By estimating the circulation and climate of the ocean NASA was able to use ocean flow data to create a simple, visceral experience. 

KLEIN BOTTLE HOUSE


 

 Klein Bottle House in Mornington Peninsula, Australia applies the logic of a shape which folds into itself to become one continuous volume. The mathematical term for The Klein Bottle is a surface with an indefinable left, right, top or bottom. This project was carried out by the Architecture firm McBride Charles Ryan.  Every year at the international watch and jewelry fair in Basel Switzerland, famed watchmaker Harry Winston unveils the latest model in their exclusive Opus line. This year for the Opus 12, Harry Winston partnered with Emmanuel Bouchet to create a watch that is built around 12 pairs of hands that point towards the center and rotate in place to turn blue when they’re telling the time or silver when they’re inactive. It’s an absolute marvel of engineering that unmatched by any other watch producer on this planet.

ROBOTIC BEE

Mobee, the monolithic bee

 

The harvard microrobotics laboratory have developed a robotic bee that is printed from layers of carbon-fiber and plastic. Attached to the frame are titanium wings which, when applied to an external power source, are able to move at 1 or 30 hertz.  In Liu Bolin latest work commissioned by Harper’s Bazaar, he applies his signature disappearing effect to some of the worlds biggest designers. This collaboration features designers Albert Elbaz, Jean Paul Gaultier, Angela Missoni, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Picciol painted into their own thematic environments.
